Gresham Hunt is a globally expanding recruitment company headquartered in the UK, specialising in providing diverse solutions to its clients worldwide. With our UK office serving as the hub for group reporting, an established presence in Amsterdam, and launch of our USA entity, we are seeking a strategic financial leader to join our team as the Head of Finance.

 

The Head of Finance will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing the global financial strategy of Gresham. Initially, you will be a stand alone Head of Finance, with oversight of operations, legal and admin, this all-encompassing role requires a finance professional with a global mindset, capable of navigating international financial regulations, taxation, and business practices with ambitions to grow into a Finance Director. The successful candidate will bring the finance function in-house, setting up full P&L and accounting systems and processes. We are looking for someone to bring great value and analysis but also provide the basics.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):

  • Develop and maintain robust global financial models encompassing UK, European, and upcoming US operations;
  • Provide insightful analysis of financial performance and key metrics to guide business planning across diverse regions.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department heads globally to create and manage annual budgets, ensuring compliance with international financial regulations;
  • Conduct regular forecasting to align with business goals and identify potential financial risks and opportunities on a global scale.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Set up and oversee cash flow planning, considering regional financial practices;
  • Implement effective treasury management practices to optimise working capital globally.

VAT Returns and Accounts Production:

  • Take charge of in-house VAT returns and accounts production, ensuring compliance with the relevant tax regulations across different jurisdictions;
  • Accounting transactions including; banks, credit cards, expenses, accounts payable, and accounts receivable;
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts & credit cards;
  • Preparation of a presentation of monthly and annual financial statements & accounts and submission of financial accounts.

Setting up Full P&L and Accounting Systems:

  • Lead the establishment of comprehensive P&L and accounting systems for the entire organisation, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance;
  • Design and implement efficient financial processes, including chart of accounts, financial reporting structures, and internal controls.

Bringing Finance Function In-House & Projects:

  • Drive the transition to bring the finance function in-house, overseeing the setup of end-to-end financial systems and processes;
  • Streamline financial workflows to enhance accuracy and efficiency;
  • Setting up of new legal entities
  • Key player with financial implications of events and marketing

Strategic Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to provide financial insights that contribute to the overall strategic direction of the global organisation;
  • Engage with external stakeholders globally, such as auditors and financial institutions, ensuring compliance with international financial standards;
  • Oversight of IT, Legal and Operations.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or relevant professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred;
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role with a global scope, ideally within the recruitment industry or a related service-oriented sector;
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills;
  • Worked in a small-medium size business
  • Ability assist with company-wide projects, not just related to finance
  • Excellent understanding of international financial systems, regulations, and best practices;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance people.
